Tabuk City, Kalinga – The 21-year-old carnapping suspect in Tabuk City, Kalinga, was apprehended by the Provincial Highway Patrol Group (HPG-Kalinga), led by Police Captain Jordan Bongat, earlier this December.

The suspect, known under the alias “Bogs,” was listed as the Top 3 Most Wanted Person in Kalinga and was arrested during an anti-carnapping operation in Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City, on December 12, 2025.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera on December 15, Bongat said Bogs, along with a relative, allegedly stole a Honda MMC motorcycle from its owner, who had briefly left the vehicle to bet on the lottery in July.

“Diay kinarnap ni Bogs ket diay Honda MMC, bale diay akin bagi gamin ket napan kanu tinmaya ti lotto, inbati na diay motor na, edi agsubli isuna awanen diay motor na. Upon receiving the victim’s report, Bongat said the HPG immediately filed a carnapping case before Judge Jerson Echman Angog of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 25, 2nd Judicial Region, Tabuk, for the issuance of an arrest warrant against Bogs.

The RTC branch issued the warrant on December 11, which was then served by HPG-Kalinga on December 12.

“Finailan tayo ti kaso sunga nagissue ti arrest warrant ni Honorable Judge Angog ti Branch 25 ti RTC, isunga idi December 11 nirumwar diay warrant of arrest na. Di December 12, inserve tayo diay warrant of arrest ken diay suspect, ket natiliw mi diay Nambaran,” narrated the Police Captain.

After the arrest and proper documentation, Bogs was turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on December 15, where he is currently detained.

The 21-year-old faces charges under Republic Act No. 10883, also known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, which carries 6–12 years of imprisonment and a fine.

As cited in the warrant of arrest obtained by Guru Press, the accused is not eligible for bail.

Bongat assured the public that authorities are working diligently to capture carnappers while reminding residents to secure their vehicles at all times to prevent victimization. He also encouraged anyone victimized to report the crime immediately to the authorities.

Meanwhile, the other suspect, alias “EB,” was apprehended by the Tabuk City Police Station and was also turned over to the BJMP on December 15.
