No more walking for hours to reach Gaang and Dacalan, Tanudan soon

Updated: Apr 27

Tanudan, Kalinga – Walking for some hours to reach Gaang and Dacalan in Tanudan will no longer be necessary with the opening of the road connecting the two barangays to the national road.

Roads linking far-flung areas in Tanudan to the highway are what yTanudans have been dreaming of for a long time now. But in recent years, this aspiration has turned into reality with more roads being opened in the town, like the Gaang-Dacalan Road.

Gaang and Dacalan are two of the communities in the municipality that are far from the highway, and people have to walk through the river in Guimoyo, cross a hanging bridge, then walk on foot paths heading to the said places.

Traveling on foot to Gaang from the highway takes 30 minutes, while it takes an hour and a half to Dacalan.

Sooner, yTanudans and visitors won’t have to walk longer to reach the two barangays as the opening of the Gaang-Dacalan Road is ongoing. The road will connect the two places to Tabuk City via Tanudan-Banaue National Road.

The opening of the Gaang-Dacalan Road was funded with P80 million by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

With this development in Tanudan, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag is optimistic that in no time, the people in Tanudan will no longer have to quote the ‘nakadanunen ti tao idiay bulan, ngem awan pay kalsa idiay Tanudan’ line as the LGU leaders, provincial officials, and the national agencies work closely to bring more road projects in the municipality and link all communities to the national road sooner.
