Baguio City, Philippines – Due to the threat of the Omicron variant, the city of Baguio has limited the arrival of tourists through its online registration portal from 5,000 to 4,000 persons daily, effective Thursday, January 6 to 18, 2022.

The new regulation on the number of allowed tourists has been made through Executive order No. 1 series of 2021 by City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

Through said order, accommodation establishments shall also limit their guest capacity to 70% occupancy. However, as clarified by Baguio City Public Information Office, travel applications that were approved before January 6, 2022 will still be allowed but with the testing requirement.

Meantime, for fully vaccinated leisure and non-essential visitors coming from Alert Level 3 areas, they are directed to present negative results of RT-PCR tests conducted within 72 hours prior to arrival, or Rapid Antigen test conducted within 24 hours before entering the city.

If unable to undergo said process, travelers are allowed to undergo Rapid Antigen testing upon arrival in triage units operation supervised by the City Health Services Office.

Additionally, regardless of vaccination status, travel companions aged 12 to 17 are required to present negative results of RT-PCR test conducted 72 hours prior to their arrival in the city, or result of Rapid Antigen test.

For unvaccinated or partially vaccinated adult travelers for leisure or non-essential purposes, PIO Baguio stressed that they are not allowed entry to the city.

Essential travels

As clarified by Baguio City Tourism Office, only those traveling to the city for leisure purposes are to register in Baguio VISITA, while those planning for essential travels are urged to register in hdf.baguio.gov.ph and should present documents as proof of travel purposes.

“APORs, essential/business travels, medical/professional appointments, students, workers/employees, and returning residents must register in hdf.baguio.gov.ph, just show documentary proof of your reason. For HDF assistance, call CDRRMO at (074) 442 1900, (074) 442 1901, 0927 628 0498 or 0999 678 4335,” Baguio City Tourism wrote.
