Bontoc, Mt. Province – Mountain Province police reminds motorists once again to drive defensively while on the road after a vehicular accident that transpired Wednesday, April 3, in Alab Oriente, Bontoc.

The self-inflicted accident claimed the life of a male rider from Kilong, Sagada.

Based on investigation conducted by Mt. Province police, the rider identified as Ambrosio Dumagos was then headed to Sabangan. However, when he reached the curved portion of the road at Sitio Dantay, he was said to have miscalculated his driving, encroached the opposite lane and later lost control of his motorcycle.

As a result, his motorcycle hit a GMelina tree and eventually came to rest in the pavement while he fell down about six meters from the national highway.

While a fellow motorist was about to pass by the area, he came across the motorcycle showing signs of an accident that occurred.

When they went to checked it, they saw the man in a bad state prompting them to inform proper authorities.

While a quick response was made by authorities, they discovered the victim was no longer breathing and had no pulse when they arrived. Blood was also oozing on the victim’s nose and mouth.

Dumagos was pronounced dead by Dr. Diga Kay Gomez of Bontoc Municipal Health Office.

“May this incident a somber reminder to all road users of the importance of road safety and the potentially fatal consequences of even a moment’s negligence,” wrote PNP Mt. Province.

Meantime, according to Bontoc PIO, the body of the victim was already claimed by his relatives.
