Tabuk City, Kalinga — While several communities remain without electricity and others isolated due to road cuts caused by landslides and soil erosion from Super Typhoon Uwan, Governor James S. Edduba said the provincial government is committed to sustained rebuilding, recovery, and protection until the province returns to normal.

Edduba, through a video message posted on the Province of Kalinga page, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, including members of the PDRRMC, city and municipal LGUs, the Office of the Vice Governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, 103rd Infantry Battalion, 503rd Infantry Brigade, BFP, KPPO, SAF, and OCD-CAR, among others, for their swift action.

The governor commended the group, noting that the immediate declaration of a State of Calamity, along with the rescue operations and the distribution of food packs, medical assistance, and temporary shelter, was made possible through effective cooperation among various sectors.

“Their tireless efforts in the relief operations, search and retrieval, airlift missions, reconnaissance, and clearing operations have ensured the safety and welfare of our communities—especially the most affected and most isolated areas. Your courage, commitment, and teamwork exemplify the spirit of service and solidarity that define Kalinga,” the governor said.

Despite the challenges, the provincial chief executive assured residents that the provincial government will not stop its efforts to help communities rise again, emphasizing that the unity shown in the aftermath of the typhoon will serve as the foundation for Kalinga’s path to recovery.

“On behalf of the provincial government, I thank each and every one of you for going above and beyond during these challenging times. Together, we will continue to rebuild, recover, and protect our province. Lumin-awa, Kalinga,” Edduba concluded.

Five casualties recorded; P8 billion in losses reported

According to the PDRRMO report presented during the Management Committee meeting on November 17, the province sustained over P8 billion worth of damage. The report also confirmed five casualties and one individual still missing.

As rehabilitation efforts continue, the provincial government urges citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative, especially as more weather disturbances are expected in the remaining months of the year.
