Tabuk City, Kalinga – When one has the passion for something, he can make things work, just like iKalinga teen fighter, Alexander Tagure who just took home two gold medals in a recent international jiu-jitsu event.

Alexander won the medals in the Northern International Jiu-jitsu Open Championships on April 12 in Baguio City. The event was participated by hundreds of fighters, not just in the Philippines, but also from other countries.

At 16, the young phenom knew what he wanted – finish his studies and pursue his passion for combative sports. Certainly, he is good at keeping up with both as he is able to manage his time studying his lessons and training for competitions.

According to his coach, Erwin Tagure, Alexander, who is a grade 11 student, attends his classes every day, and instead of bonding with his peers after class, just like what most teens do, he commits time to training at the Tribu Banwar gym in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

“After school suna ag-training, deretso dagus suna ag-road workout tapos ag-handle suna kids class ta kadkadwaen nak tapos ag-ensayo to isuna after,” he narrated.

Nothing is stopping Alexander from conquering greater heights as he is set to participate in another international jiu-jitsu championship in Manila in June this year.
