Baguio City, Philippines – They might be neophytes in the world of Muay Thai, but three girls from Baguio City have proven they have what it takes to win international games.

These young lady fighters are Krisha S. Facsoy, 13; Audhrie Mae D. Bacod, 14; and Nanet M. Sumbang, 13. All of them are Grade 8 learners of Happy Hollow National High School in Baguio City.

The three are among the seven delegates from the Philippines sent to represent the country in the 5th Pro-Am World Muay Thai Championship in Pattaya, Thailand on March 11 – 15, 2024.

Facsoy won gold in the 48 kgs category; Bacod snatched the same medal in the 55 kgs; and Sumbang likewise took home the gold in the 42 kgs bracket.

The girls’ coach, Francisco Wangag relayed to GURU Press Cordillera that the 5th Pro-Am World Muay Thai is the first international competition attended by the three who only began playing Muay Thai last year.

Just like their fellow Cordilleran from Kalinga who won a belt in the same competition, Bacod and Facsoy will be playing in the CARAA meet next month in Apayao. Bacod will be competing in Pencak Silat, while Facsoy will be playing Wushu Sanda.
