53 Kalinga fisher folks to get P25k each loan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Fifty-three fisherfolks from the province may now avail of the P25, 000 loan from the Expanded SURE-Aid (ESURE) and Recovery Project or SURE COVID-19 of the Department of Agriculture.

Said zero interest – no collateral loan scheme will be released through Land Bank of the Philippines starting Monday, March 22, 2021. Said loan is payable in ten years.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) -Cordillera in a press statement said that only the service fee and documentary stamp tax will be deducted from the principal amount.

Kalinga Provincial BFAR Officer Joyce Ducyogen emphasized that to avail of said program, an applicant must be registered with the Fisherfolk Registration System or the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, a non- 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) recipient, marginal or low-income fisherfolk, and has not availed other loan assistance from the Department of Agriculture.

Further, the BFAR officer said that Kalinga was allotted with 300 slots, but some applicants were disqualified so the remaining slots were given to other provinces in need.

“Based idiay guidelines ti ACPC, hindi qualified ang pantawid beneficiaries at mga government workers for the assistance isu nga adu ti haan nainayun,” a personnel from BFAR Kalinga said.

“Other slots, naibigay na sa other provinces kasi adu nakapila ngem nu adda manen madisqualify nga applicants da, mabalin a maisubli ti slots nu la ketdi adda da pay ag-apply,” she added.

SURE AID Recovery Project is under the Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) which aims to assist and finance the emergency requirements of small farmers and fisherfolk whose livelihood was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program, the bureau said, also provides working capital assistance for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) engaged in agriculture and fisheries food production, delivery products, and other supply chain activities to ensure the continued availability of food supply.
