Updated: Dec 21, 2021

Baguio City, Philippines – Aside from the film ‘Dayas’ starring Jeyrick ‘The Carrotman of the Philippines’ Sigmaton, another Cordilleran film made it to the selection of International Film Festival, this time with Sundance, the largest independent film festival in the United States which ‘amplify original voices, inspire new ideas, and rally community in support of independent storytelling.’

The Cordilleran film entitled ‘The Headhunter’s Daughter’ was chosen as part of the Shorts Program 4 category of the 38th Sundance Film Festival that will be conducted from January 20 to 30, 2022.

The short film directed by Ifugao-Visayan Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan will have its world premiere during the festival. Other works of Director Eblahan were previously featured in international festivals such as Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, and the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.

Jasmin “Ammin” Adaoal, a singer and tattoo artist from Tinglayan, Kalinga, played the lead role of “Lynn.” In said film, Lynn left home and traversed ‘the harrowing roads of the Cordilleran highlands to try her luck in the city as a country singer.’

Aside from Sundance, the film will have its European premiere at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival from January 28 to February 5, 2022.

The cast, through the film’s official Facebook page, expressed their excitement saying, “it's a huge honor for us to be included in this year's International Competition.”

Meanwhile, another Filipino film ‘Ang Pagbabalik ng Kwago’ with the English title “Leonor Will Never Die” was likewise chosen to be premiered under the World Dramatic Competition of the same festival.
