Tabuk City, Kalinga - A hunting trip in the mountainous boundary of Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur on August 25 ended in a tragedy when a 40-year-old man was shot to death by a fellow hunter who first claimed it was an accident.

At first, the suspect said he fired at the victim because he believed he saw a wild boar during their hunt. However, the investigations and witness accounts said the incident was intentionally committed by the suspect.

The identity of the said suspect was withheld.

Based on the report of a local media outlet dated August 28, the police found that the two hunters argued over the means to divide the wild boar they caught. The altercation turned heated until the suspect fired at the victim.

A witness also came forward and reported that the suspect purposely shot his colleague, contrary to his first claim that it was an accident.

What also makes the suspect’s narratives doubtful to the police, as stated in the report, is that he did not surrender the gun used in the crime immediately after the incident.

The 40-year-old, whose name was kept confidential for privacy reasons, left a mourning family that is now seeking justice for his unfortunate demise.

At present, in-depth investigations are on going as to the real motive of the crime.
