“I instructed…to make sure that the slain rebel be given a decent burial… Makipakaasiak nga bumaba kayon (NPAs) ta adda met isabat mi nga pagrugian yo…” – Governor Edduba

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following the gunfights that happened between the government troops and the rebels in Allaguia, Piunkpuk that resulted in the killing of one of the cadres, Governor James Edduba instructed the provincial government to make sure the slain rebel on November 23 is given a decent burial.

The deceased who was identified as Victor Madalang Daligdig of Sitio Anunang, Liwan West, Rizal was killed in the second of the six gunfights between the members of the Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) and the personnel of the 503rd Infantry Brigade in Allaguia on November 23. According to his family, he left home and joined the movement in 2007 and never been home since then in spite of their call for him to surrender.

“I instructed the personnel of the Province of Kalinga to make sure that the family of the slain rebel on November 23 in Allaguia, Pinukpuk will be given a decent burial. After all, he is still from Kalinga. He is still one of us. Nadagsen ti riknak ta nasakit ti mapukawan ti miyembro ti pamilya but we cannot do anything ta desisyon met dagiti kakabsat tayo nu sumuko da wennu ituloy da nga ilaban ti komunismo,” Edduba said in a statement.

The body of the slain cadre was taken by the government to a funeral parlor in Tabuk City and to his home in Rizal.

Saddened about the life lost in the encounter, Governor Edduba has once again called on the remaining rebels to surrender as it is not yet too late for them to start a new and peaceful life with their loved ones.

“Makipakaasiak nga bumaba kayon ta adda met isabat mi nga pagrugian yo… adda met itulong ti gobyerno… adda met ar-aramiden mi tapno ipakita mi nga sincero kami ti gandat mi nga tumulong,” he appealed.
