Sto. Tomas, Isabela — A man whose identity was withheld by authorities is facing criminal charges after surrendering and confessing to the killing of another man whom he accused of repeatedly sexually abusing him.

On the morning of January 25, 2026, according to the PNP Santo Tomas as reported by national media, the victim’s body was discovered by his brother in a vacant lot in Barangay Balelleng, bearing a fatal slit wound on the neck. The discovery immediately prompted authorities to respond.

It was revealed that the victim was last seen alive on January 24, after allegedly calling the suspect to a secluded area in the village.

The suspect later voluntarily approached authorities during the investigation, admitted to the killing, and turned over the knife he allegedly used in the attack. During questioning, he claimed that he had been raped by the victim on three separate occasions, which allegedly prompted him to retaliate — fatally ending the victim’s life on the day he was summoned.

As of this writing, the suspect remains in police custody, with a homicide case filed against him. Further investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Male Rape Cases in the Philippines

Over a ten-year period from 2006 to 2016, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recorded only 171 cases of male rape and 276 cases of sexual abuse against men nationwide.

Despite the low number of reported cases, many incidents of male rape in the country are believed to go unreported, often resulting in prolonged psychological distress for victims and, in some cases, self-harm.
