Lubuagan, Kalinga - Through the Department of Health (DOH) “RESBAKUNA: Kasangga ng Bida,” health workers from the Kalinga District Hospital get their first dose of Sinovac on March 11, 2021 in Lubuagan.

Kalinga District Hospital Chief Dr. Maria Rhoda Bravo is the first frontliner in the municipality to receive the Sinovac vaccine, which is part of the 600,000 one-dose vial donated by the Chinese government to the country.

As of this writing, 22 regular employees received the jab along with some DOH deployed personnel in the hospital. Inoculation will be done until today, March 12.

In an interview, Dr. Bravo said 67 vaccines were allotted to KDH for the regular and job order hospital workers whose names were included in the master list forwarded to DOH CAR last January.

“There are those who did not receive the vaccines because they have comorbidities like uncontrolled hypertension, active signs of allergies and elevated blood sugar levels, those who are in their 1st trimester of pregnancy and those who were Covid19 RNA-positive in the last 3 months, ket adu met kanya da ti kastuy,” she informed.

Bravo disclosed that the DOH-CAR has agreed that in case the list to be vaccinated will not be met, newly deployed health personnel who are not included in the master list may take the shot.

Said vaccination was supervised by DOH-CAR personnel headed by Dr. Janice Bugtong and DOH-Kalinga DMO-V Remegio Basilan.

Meantime, she encourages all yKalingas not to fear taking the vaccine since this is a vital step to eventually end the pandemic.

“Pinag-aralan din naman ng science ito and awan met ti sabali nga agas na or to stop the spread but to get the vaccine. We have seen the worse of this COVID 9 pandemic, and we've been clamoring for a vaccine to be available, and it has finally come. No other time but now is the right time to be vaccinated for our own protection, for our family and the community's sake. It is deemed to be the beginning of the end of COVID, so to speak,” the doctor expressed.
