PMA cadet proposes to girlfriend on graduation day, gets the YES!

Baguio City, Philippines – Apart from the privilege to serve the country as a commissioned officer, a 23-year-old cadet took the opportunity to propose to his beloved at the Philippine Military Academy graduation on May 17.

While celebrations erupted at the PMA on Saturday because the 266 cadets belonging to the “Siklab Laya” Class of 2025 culminated their rigorous four years at the premier military institution, love took center stage when 2Lt. Ferdenan Rees Macalay decided to pop the question to his girlfriend, 2Lt. Remedios Racma Briones Lopez, 22.

Moments after their graduation rites, Macalay got down on one knee at the PMA ground and asked Lopez to marry him.

Surrounded by their family and loved ones, Lopez gave her sweet “YES” to the love of her life who had been her best friend at the academy.

The newly-engaged couple, according to the PIA Cordillera, have been together since their second year at the academy. The two who hail from Bulacan said they want to serve the nation before settling down in the coming years.
