Tabuk City, Kalinga – In a push to sustain the rich cultural heritage and identity of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera, Governor James S. Edduba lauded the contributions of indigenous communities during the Regional Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Conference 2025 held on October 21, 2025, at the Kalinga State University Gymnasium, Bulanao Campus.

In his message, the governor praised the dedication of fellow Cordillerans in preserving the region’s cultural heritage, emphasizing that indigenous knowledge remains vital in shaping sustainable solutions in governance, environmental management, and community life.

The governor also underscored the continuing relevance of indigenous wisdom, saying, “Indigenous knowledge is not just about the past. It is a living, evolving body of wisdom that can guide us in addressing the challenges of today.”

With the theme “Ating Pandayin ang Kinabukasan, Gabay ang Katutubong Karunungan at Karapatan,” the event highlighted best practices and policy directions, underscoring the Department of Education’s commitment to inclusive and culturally rooted education.

Edduba acknowledged the strength and resilience of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera and beyond, recognizing how their cultures and traditions have long served as a beacon of wisdom for all.

The governor also thanked his fellow Cordillerans for their dedication, reminding them that everyone has a role in protecting the rights of indigenous peoples.

“To our indigenous brothers and sisters in the Cordillera, thank you for your dedication to preserving your cultural heritage and for sharing your wisdom with us. We all have a role in protecting the rights of indigenous peoples,” he said.

The event gathered participants from eight Schools Divisions across the Cordillera — Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Tabuk City, and Baguio City — representing the diverse cultural heritage of the region.
