Tanudan, Kalinga – The biggest sporting event in Kalinga may soon be staged in the Municipality of Tanudan, as the local government unit has expressed its willingness to host the Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet in the future.

Following the historic hosting of Pinukpuk for the 2026 Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet held from January 13 to 17, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, who accompanied the Tanudan athletes during the competition, said that their town is also eager to host the province-wide sports festival.

However, Mayor Dagadag cited one major concern: the availability of billeting areas, as many schools in Tanudan are located far from the poblacion.

“Kayat mi nga i-host daytoy Provincial Meet kuma met lang idiay Tanudan tapnu makita dagiti u-ubbing tayo iti ili tayo. Awan problema tayo iti pondo, ngem iti concern tayo nga talaga ket nagaadayo eskwelaan nga pagyanan dagiti delegations,” he said.

Despite this challenge, Dagadag expressed optimism that Tanudan could one day successfully host the Provincial Meet.

“Padasen mi pay lang kitan ta kaya tayo, ngem jay billeting tayo ti problema,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tanudan athletes finished fourth overall in the recently concluded Kalinga Sports Festival, with a total medal haul of 64—composed of 32 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
