2 groups in Santa Marcela awarded P.6M livelihood fund to boost operations

Santa Marcela, Apayao – Two associations in Santa Marcela received on Monday, May 13, 2024, over half a million pesos as livelihood aid.

These recipients were the Barocboc Sunrise Association and the Nueva SLP Association.

Each of these two was provided a sum of P300,000 derived from the Office of Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPPARU), and was granted under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP)-Pamana fund, one of the capability-building initiatives of the DSWD.

Municipal Mayor Evelyn Martinez, on Monday, said the groups are expected to utilize the funds for the retail sale activities of food, motor vehicle parts, machinery components and accessories.

This sustainable livelihood endeavor centered on empowering local economic development efforts, and was deemed a significant step towards community progress.

Vice Mayor Rolly Guiang added that the said provision of livelihood aid underscored the government's commitment to advance the socio-economic status of not only the immediate members of the associations but also of the residents.

Meantime, DSWD-CAR Project Development Officer II, Roxanne Gay T. Gunaban, will lead the implementation of the livelihood assistance, primarily its fund utilization.
