Dolores, Abra - Second Lieutenant Charisse Guzman Tigrado made history for Abra after graduating from the prestigious United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, recently.

A local media outlet in Abra that featured her story said Charisse was commissioned as one of the 93 new officers of the United States Space Force (USSF) under the USAFA Class of 2025.

Her proud parents are Mr. Bryant Tigrado and Mrs. Charisma Guzman, both from the town of Dolores.

The US Space Force has the goal of safeguarding US interests in outer space, overseeing satellites, and offering essential communication and navigation assistance for worldwide defense.

The academy’s military training ranks as one of the toughest globally, integrating military discipline, academic achievement, athletics, and leadership, which makes it hard for even admitted students to graduate.

Based on gathered information, only 10% of the high number of applicants around the world are accepted annually.

Thus, to be admitted to the academy and finish its rigorous military training is extremely rare for a Cordilleran and for Filipinos, but Charisse showed that with dedication, no great ambitions are out of reach.
