Balbalan, Kalinga – When the post for Sangguniang Bayan Secretary was vacated at the Balbalan LGU, a number of qualified individuals expressed their intent to fill the post, but it was Christine Gallamoy’s 18 years of diligence, hard work, and service that stood out.

Gallamoy had been working at the Municipal Budget Office before she was chosen and appointed as the new Sangguniang Bayan Secretary and took her oath on June 30, 2025.

Mayor Almar Malannag relayed that among the exemplary qualities of Gallamoy that got her the job were the expertise, skills, and knowledge she accumulated in her almost two decades of serving the LGU with commitment, excellence, and diligence. One of the many testaments to this is the Seal of Good Local Governance received by the Balbalan LGU in 2024.

“Nakita mi nu kasano isuna ka-dedicated iti trabaho na. Idiay SGLG, isu iti focal person mi met laeng, isu nga kasdiay nga naala tayo iti SGLG,” Malannag said.

With all her outstanding qualifications, Gallamoy’s oath was administered by former Vice Mayor Rowina Alison Damian before she officially wrapped up her term on June 30.

Damian expressed she was conflicted at first since the applicants for the post are all qualified, but to ensure fairness and integrity, she considered the top candidate ranked by the Selection and Screening Committee.

Additionally, before her exit, the first-ever woman and the youngest Vice Mayor in Balbalan reminded the Sangguniang Bayan employees that power comes with great responsibility, the principle that guided her in her historic term.
