Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor James S. Edduba underscored the Lumin-awa Trek’s role in promoting Kalinga as a peaceful and culturally rich destination as more than 200 trekkers gathered for the culminating event in Buscalan, Tinglayan, on February 7, 2026.

In celebration of the 31st Kalinga Founding Anniversary and the 7th Bodong Festival, the Provincial Government of Kalinga hosted the 4th edition of the Lumin-awa Trek, bringing together trekkers and mountaineers on a journey through three culturally significant villages in Tinglayan.

The trek began at the jump-off point in Sitio Char-ig, Barangay Mallango, and led participants through scenic landscapes and indigenous communities, passing through Barangay Sumadel and Barangay Tulgao before culminating at the renowned Buscalan Tattoo Village.

During the culminating event, Governor Edduba thanked the trekkers and expressed hope that they would return next year, noting that the activity helps promote not only Kalinga’s natural scenery but also its culture and hospitality.

“I hope you’ll join again next year. As I said last night, we are doing this to promote the province as a peaceful place to visit — to enjoy not only the scenery but also the culture of the people here and the way we welcome our visitors. Thank you to all the trekkers,” Edduba said.

He also expressed gratitude to uniformed personnel, medics, and officials who ensured the safety of participants throughout the trek.

“On behalf of the Provincial Government, thank you to our partners who worked hard from Mallango, Sumadel 1 and 2, Bilong Man-obal, Dananao, Tulgao, Butbut Proper, Loccong, and Buscalan,” he added.

With the success of the 4th edition, organizers and participants alike are looking forward to next year’s Lumin-awa Trek, aiming to attract more adventurers while further promoting Kalinga’s scenic landscapes and vibrant culture.
