Benguet, Philippines – Individuals who are not seriously taking the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 disease and those groups requesting exception from observing the health protocols and restrictions of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) were called out Wednesday, September 22, 2021, for them to heed imposed restriction and safety guidelines.

The Provincial Information Office of Benguet in a press release said that the province is now experiencing a worsening COVID-19 crisis scenario.

The province as of Tuesday, September 21, listed 18 Covid-19 deaths – the highest single-day record as of this writing.

Additionally, travelers are advised to abide by the recently issued travel restriction which involves the presentation of negative RT-PCR or a vaccination card before travelers could enter Benguet.

“APOR ka man wenu non-APOR, ag-follow ka ladta iti linteg. Awan ganas na no pumigsa iti ekonomiya tayo no adu metten iti makitkita tayo a kandila ditoy Facebook gapu ti daytoy a virus,” the PIO of Benguet states.

The office also noted that the economy did not stop, only that there are health protocols being implemented so as not to compromise the health security of the public.

The press release also cited that there is a need to give prior attention to the welfare of health workers who are at risk of getting infected. At present, more health workers are being quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19 patients. This is aside from the COVID-19 patients fighting for their lives.

“Ti kaasian tayo ket dagiti health workers a nabanbannog ken maku-quarantine piman gapu iti kanayon nga exposure da iti COVID-19 patients. Ti kaasian tayo ket dagijay pasyente nga marigrigatan, lumablaban tapnu agbiyag da,” PIO-Benguet said.

PIO Benguet explained that the provincial government is doing the necessary action to take control of the surge. Among these efforts is the implementation of the "No Negative RT-PCR test result / Fully Vaccination Card, No Entry" protocol for non-Benguet residents, especially those coming from high-risk areas outside Benguet.

Governor Melchor Diclas, the PIO informed, is always on call for concerned individuals and offices just to ensure that enough supply of oxygen is provided, which was is a priority concern of hospitals given that COVID-19 cases continue to increase.

“Irespeto tayo kuma dagitoy linteg a pinag-agree-an dagiti myembro iti Provincial IATF (governor, vice governor, board members, mayors, and national line agencies) tapnu matulungan iti health nga agparigat a lumablaban,” the PIO Benguet press release concluded.
