Tabuk City, Kalinga—To help support its humanitarian services, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Kalinga Chapter is encouraging the public to donate blood by going to their office or participating in bloodletting activities the organization is conducting in the province.

The said office shared that there is currently enough supply of blood bags in the province, but there is a need to donate more since not only Kalinga residents are benefiting from the stocks but also those in need in neighboring provinces.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Medical Technologist Jeremy Delgado of PRC Kalinga shared their office has 31 bags/units of blood in their storage available, 55 bags sent for testing, and more than 70 bags undergoing testing.

The PRC conducts blood tests on donated blood to guarantee transfusion safety or to ensure the blood is safe for patients.

“As of now po, meron tayong 31 units of blood.

Nevertheless, despite what he described to be enough numbers of blood bags, Delgado urged everyone to remain committed to donating blood to guarantee that the supply remains adequate during emergencies and to help more individuals requiring blood transfusions.

The PRC Kalinga, on September 29, conducted a bloodletting activity at the Kalinga Astrodome as part of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary of the PLGU, headed by Governor James Edduba.
