Tabuk City, Kalinga-Despite straight days of Low Epidemic Risk Level, Kalinga Provincial Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban called for the Local Chief Executives to heighten implementation of minimum health protocols in their areas of responsibilities.

“The data provided by the PHO (Provincial Health Office) simply means that our approach and response to COVID19 are working and this is enough reason for us to continue and intensify what we have started,” Tubban said during the virtual meeting of Provincial Inter-agency Task Force (PIATF).

The Governor urged chief executives to monitor if the barangay officials are enforcing and monitoring the observance of social distancing on recreation and leisure facilities as these could become super-spreaders if left uncontrolled.

Tubban as well asked that mass gatherings be reported.

The prevention of public gathering is seen as one of the “effective ways” in preventing the speed at which the virus is transmitted. Provision of emergency numbers, he said, should be placed in strategic areas for the community to access in case of reporting such incidents.

Tubban stressed that Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) may seek assistance from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in case they can no longer make their constituents abide by the rules implemented.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Governor, during the virtual presser, recognized the efforts of PIATF members and reminded them to “never be discouraged” for the benefit of their constituents.

“The COVID19 is far from over but we won’t put our guards down,” the Governor underscored.
