Mute woman shot dead by political candidate in Abra

Tayum, Abra – A physically challenged woman was killed in a shooting incident that transpired around 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, at Sitio Pitao, Barangay Bagalay, Tayum, Abra.

Police, in their initial investigation, said that the victim was just inside her house when a gunshot sound was heard by some witnesses. They reported the incident to the police who proceeded to the scene shortly after.

The victim, Florinda Alcaide, 39, single and mute was said to have been dead on the spot with the gunshot wounds she sustained. The type of gun used, meantime, was not mentioned in the report.

As for the suspect, he immediately fled the scene and headed in an unknown direction. However, he was caught by the police in his residence after authorities launched a collaborative manhunt operation.

He was identified by police as Bobby ‘Bob’ Briosos, a resident of Dolores, Abra, and a candidate for councilor in said municipality.

The motive for the killing remains a mystery, and authorities are now making their efforts to unravel it.

The incident, to recall, happened two days after a shooting incident in the same municipality.

Three victims, on board a car, were traversing the Tayum-Bucay Road on Friday evening when an attempt to kill them occurred.

Rollyto Bisares Tejero, 29, sustained a gunshot wound in his back. However, he managed to drive their car until they reached the police station in Bucay to seek help. He was later rushed to a hospital nearby.

His companions, Dave Justice Bataller, 25, and a minor were fortunately left unhurt during the shooting.
