Tabuk City, Kalinga - Traveling along Manuel S. Agyao Road to F.F. Cruz in Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga, will soon be safer and brighter as the Department of Public Works and Highways—Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (DPWH-LKDEO) is set to replace outdated streetlights installed at said road with solar-powered lighting systems.

Engineer Patricio Angngad from DPWH-LKDEO, according to Kalinga PIO, said the project is a response to public concerns raised during the provincial government’s Kapehan sa Kapitolyo in June 2024, where residents pointed out the dangers of dimly lit roads.

With that, the DPWH district office acted swiftly by securing funds and project approval from the regional office (DPWH-Cordillera) to enhance the lighting of the said road by replacing the old lighting panels with a solar-powered system.

“Marugyanen nga masukatan iti solar lights for MSA Road to FF Cruz ta naaproved didjay budget na,” announced Engr. Patricio, as quoted by the Kalinga PIO.

Work is scheduled to begin this second quarter of 2025. The DPWH-LKDEO also requested help from the Kalinga PLGU to remove the current lighting panels to speed up installation.

The province’s Information Office added that the replacement of old streetlights along Manuel S. Agyao Road to F.F. Cruz is part of DPWH’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, ensuring that Kalinga’s roads are not only modern but also safe to travel.
