Lamut, Ifuago - The P18 million building known as “Balay ni Ambot” was recently inaugurated on August 5, 2021, at the tourism village in Mabato-bato Lamut, Ifugao, to serve as a home for Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL), Child at risk and victims of child abuse.

The four-storey building was constructed out of municipal government funds to provide the needed services of the troubled children and will soon be a refuge for husbands who are in conflict with their wives, including women who were abused.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Joseline Niwane and Lamut Mayor Mariano Buyagawan Jr. led the ribbon cutting of said facility.

According to Assistant Secretary Niwane, the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGU) must be in the front line in providing the initial interventions for the troubled children with care and proper guidance before referring them to the “Balay ni Ambot.”

She also underscored the importance for parents to know their duty and obligation to nurture their children physically, emotionally, and spiritually to prepare them to face the world as productive citizens.

“Indeed Lamut has proven once again their mantra ‘umuna ti lamut’ , to construct their own bahay pag-asa and so explains why Lamut is a consistent awardee of child-friendly municipality," Niwane said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Mariano Buyagawan, Jr. informed that the "Balay ni Ambot" is a house of hope and happiness.

The Sangguniang Bayan will soon enact an ordinance to mandate the establishment of an Anti-Violence against Women and Children's desk in Lamut.
