Tabuk City, Kalinga - Provincial Governor Engr. Ferdinand Tubban during the Provincial Inter-Agency Task force Meeting on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, is encouraging local government units, private and public establishments in the province to acquire safety seal certifications.

The Safety Seal Certification intends to prepare establishments towards the re-opening of economic activities with the usage of the StaySafe.Ph, a digital contact tracing application to strengthen the contact tracing initiative of the government and effectively contain the spread of COVID19.

He said that it is vital for government facilities and establishments in the province to comply with the requirements to assure a safe environment for the yKalingas from COVID-19. Compliance to said safety measure, he said, would also manifest that public and private entities in the province are one with the government in observing health and safety protocols.

The Kalinga Provincial Information Office reports that establishments in the province have yet to comply with the requirements to avail of the certification. Some, however, have already started preparing the requirements as provided through Memorandum Circular 2021-053 issued on May 2021.

To qualify for the safety seal certification, an establishment should comply with registration or accreditation requirements, utilization of StaySafe.ph or any contact tracing tool integrated with the same, and enforcement of minimum public health standards.

Minimum public health standards to be observed include the availability of Screening or Triage area , availability of hand washing stations, soap and sanitizer and hand-drying equipment or supplies, observance of physical distancing through setting up physical barriers to areas where physical distancing maybe compromised, and ensuring adequate air exchange in enclosed areas.

In addition, establishments should also abide with disinfection protocols, wearing of face mask/shields especially in enclosed places, establishment of a referral system for medical and psychosocial services, designate safety officers and establish facility for proper food storage, collection, treatment and disposal of used facemasks and other infectious waste.

To apply for the certification, an establishment should proceed to the official website of their sector’s issuing authority, or their Facebook page for information on the forms required and procedure.
