Cauayan City, Isabela - Unsafe overtaking claims a number of motorists’ lives every year according to the PNP, and such a case is recorded in Cauayan City, Isabela anew.
The incident transpired on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Barangay District 1, Cauayan City. Police identified the casualty as Orlando Coloma, 57, a resident of said barangay.
Based on the reports from local media, Coloma was riding a motorcycle when he met the tragic accident around 7:00 pm that day.
Investigation conducted revealed that Coloma overtook a vehicle he was following causing him to hit the oncoming passenger bus.
The bus driver was identified as Manolito Lopez, 53, a resident of Alicia, Isabela.
As a result of the crash, Coloma was thrown off his motorcycle and sustained severe injuries to various parts of his body. He was rushed to a hospital in the city by the responding authorities; unfortunately, he was not able to survive.
Meanwhile, Lopez, the bus driver, is currently in the custody of Cauayan City Police Station and will be facing possible charges against him.
