44-yr-old farmer drowns in Cauayan, Isabela after he swam in a river drunk

Cauayan City, Isabela -  Going to a river while drunk has been one of the common causes of drowning incidents in Isabela in the past months, and the latest case was recorded on Thursday, August 22, in Cauayan City.

The victim is a 44-year-old resident of Barangay San Pablo, Cauayan City. He was identified by the police as Ronald Manuel.

Cauayan PNP report narrated that Manuel went drinking with his friends at the river bank that day before the tragic incident transpired.

After their drinking session, Manuel decided to stay at their drinking place and allegedly took a bath at the river while his colleagues went home.

An investigation said since he was already intoxicated, Manuel could have easily been carried by the water currents, resulting in the drowning incident.

His body was later retrieved by the rescue team on the same day.

The victim's family, meanwhile, is convinced that there is no foul play involved in the victim’s death.
