Balbalan LGU to award P1M to top 3 barangays with high tax collection performance

Balbalan, Kalinga – The local government unit of Balbalan, under the leadership of Mayor Almar Malannag and Vice Mayor Rowina Alison Damian, continues to mobilize the people at the grassroots level, recognizing their vital role in the town’s development.

Among its mechanisms to boost involvement of community members is the provision of monetary rewards to compensate for their determination.

As part of its efforts to ramp up tax collection performance, the LGU allotted P1 million in cash prizes for the top three barangays with the highest tax collection efficiency performance.

The Municipal Treasury Office, led by Leonore Gunday, initiated tax collection in December of last year. During that month, taxpayers were able to avail discounts on their payments and gift items.

During the regular flag-raising ceremony on Monday, March 4, the Municipal Treasurer reminded constituents of their tax obligations and announced that the winning barangays in said competition would be awarded during the upcoming town fiesta, slated for March 14 to 17.

The top three barangays with the highest tax revenue collection performance will receive cash rewards of P500,000, P300,000, and P200,000, respectively.
