Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Education of Tabuk City Division urges Senior High Schools to apply for onsite classes, especially those offering Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track.

Dr. Irene Angway, Schools Division Superintendent, made the statement during an interview with Guru Press Cordillera during the orientation of 31 additional schools on February 21, 2022.

Angway said, prior to the orientation, only Toppan, Guilayon, and San Pablo Integrated Schools had their face-to-face classes.

Angway explained that expansion of face-to-face learning is possible, encouraging schools offering senior high education, especially those that have TVL strands to apply. Nevertheless, she reiterated the compliance with the standards of the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT).

Face-to-face learning for Techvoc students, according to the Superintendent, is necessary for skills acquisition in their strands, adding the need to perform skills to be obtained hands-on.

“We know for a fact na medyo mahirap ‘yung skills kapag hindi talaga sila nag-hands on kaya sabi ko, dapat ma-try din nila mag-hands on. So, we would like to open into our Senior High schools, especially those offering technical vocational para naman makapag-hands on,” she said.

Angway stated that once the face-to-face classes start, a triage shall be set up at each school, and to ensure social distancing, a maximum number of 16 students per session shall be imposed.

Should anyone get infected with Covid-19 at school, Angway said immediate isolation shall be done and contact tracing will quickly follow.
