Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor James S. Edduba, in his speech during the inauguration and turnover of the Kalinga Weaving Center on October 9, 2025, at Belalao Hills, Barangay Mabilong, Lubuagan, lauded the people and agencies behind the success of the project.

The center, which costs ₱10 million, was funded through the assistance of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda. Its main purpose is to preserve the weaving tradition and culture of the province. Initially, it will house 32 weaving designs from the town.

Speaking before various stakeholders, the governor welcomed visitors and guests and acknowledged the DPWH Upper Kalinga District Engineering Office, the land donor, and everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the weaving center.

In connection with the center’s success, Edduba emphasized DPWH’s role as a key partner in Kalinga’s development. “So this center—daytoy ti maysa nga mangpaneknek nga DPWH is partner tayo iti panagprogreso iti ili tayo nga Kalinga,” the governor said.

Following the successful inauguration and turnover of the Kalinga Weaving Center to the Lubuagan MLGU, the iMabilong weavers are expected not only to sustain their livelihoods but also to inspire younger generations to value and preserve their cultural heritage.
