‘Love your work; be patient’ – Gov. Edduba to GIP interns

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

Kalinga Province – Governor James Edduba, in his talk, during the Government Internship Program (GIP) Orientation and Contract Signing on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Capitol Hills advised young interns to develop a passion for their work before commencing their assignments under the program.

The GIP initiative falls under KABATAAN 2000, as outlined in Executive Order (EO) No. 139 s. 1993 and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Administrative Order No. 260-15.

134 fresh graduates have been chosen to undergo the said GIP, in partnership with the Kalinga Provincial Local Government Unit.

The program offers a valuable opportunity for eligible graduates to gain practical experience through working at local and national agencies in Kalinga as a stepping stone in their career journey. They shall work and be paid 400 pesos a day in 6 months.

“This is not for your comfort, this for your experience, tapnu maka-gain kayu iti experience yu and at the same time, you learn. So anusan yu,” Edduba told the interns further encouraging them to love their work and adopt the mentality of passion and dedication, akin to successful individuals who have achieved remarkable careers.

“But let me remind you, iti panag-trabaho yu, ay-ayaten yu ti trabaho yu. Ta nu ay-ayatem ti ar-aramidem, haanmo payen mapanunot ti mabayadan. Haan mo pay mapanunuten ti aldaw that you spent because you really loved it. At the end of the day, in your participation, marealize mo nga nalag-an. That’s love of work that you are doing,” the governor advised.

“Nagrigat met ti mapan agbiruk ti trabaho. Maawatak ngay diay sitwasyon yo so as to the part of the provincial government, we would - as much as possible - retain you here. So diay ti kayat ko kuma nga haanko kayo kuma nga pumanaw ditoy Kalinga,’ he added reiterating that while the provincial government may not provide them with employment in the future, there are various opportunities to attract investors to Kalinga. He said that this would ultimately reduce the need for fresh graduates to seek employment outside of Kalinga.

“So again, good luck kanyayu. Learn, love and work,” he concluded.
