P60M Support to Barangay Development projects start implementation in Rizal, Cagayan

Updated: Nov 11, 2021

Cagayan, Philippines – Various projects under the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (LGSF-SBDP-ELCAC) in three barangays of Rizal have formally started after the groundbreaking ceremony held on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Cagayan Provincial Information Office, in a press release, disclosed that three barangays of Rizal, namely barangay Minanga, Anurturu, and Liuan, received the amount of P20M each from the national government for having been declared as insurgency-cleared barangays.

The fund will be used for the proposed projects such as concreting farm-to-market road, health station, solar dryer with corn and palay shed, streetlights, expansion of the water system, and school building as recommended by the residents in said barangays.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, government agencies, including the provincial, municipal, and barangay officials, also conducted a pledge of commitment.

Governor Manuel Mamba, in his message, stressed it is high time to end the five-decade-long insurgency problem, adding that progress in a community could only be achieved with the absence of insurgency.

Charlimagne Elmerio Echamane of Barangay Minanga, Barangay Chairman Robert De Ocampo of Anurturu, and Chairman Esteban Macuring of Barangay Liuan also expressed gratitude for the government programs and projects that will be implemented in their respective barangays.

Director Jonathan Paul M. Leusen Jr. of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 2 reminded the contractors to finish the projects as programmed. He likewise asked the community to monitor the projects and report to the local officials, supposing inappropriate actions are observed in the implementation of projects.

During the event, Cagayan Provincial Government also provided 250 packs of five-kilo rice each and assorted food packs to the three barangay-beneficiaries.
