Sadanga, Mountain Province – Two students from Nueva Vizcaya were arrested by police after police notice their reddish eyes on March 1, 2026.

The two were passing through Sadanga when they were apprehended for alleged illegal drug violations.

The suspects, aged 18 and 21, both residents of Quezon, Solano, were riding a motorcycle from Buscalan, Tinglayan when they were flagged down at a police checkpoint in Ampawilen, Poblacion, Sadanga on Sunday. Police officers asked them to lift their helmet visors, during which one officer noticed the driver’s reddish eye, prompting further inspection.

Authorities grew more suspicious after spotting a protruding elongated object from a bag placed at the driver’s footrest. Upon inspection, the item was suspected to be marijuana, leading to the arrest of the two students.

According to the Mountain Province Information Office, about two kilograms of suspected dried marijuana were confiscated and brought to the crime laboratory for examination.

After the inventory of seized items, the suspects were taken into police custody and scheduled for drug testing. They are expected to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, during week-long anti-drug operations conducted from February 23 to March 1, police authorities in the Cordillera arrested four drug personalities and confiscated illegal contraband worth at least ₱78.8 million.
