Tinglayan, Kalinga – Starting next week, on January 17, the Local Government of Tinglayan will now require visiting tourists in the municipality to bring their vaccine cards when visiting the place, while yTinglayans are also mandated to show their vaccination cards when transacting in any government offices.

The directive was made through Executive Order Number 1 issued by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab as a proactive strategy to slow down the surge of COVID-19 cases and stop the further spread of the virus, especially now that the country is being threatened with the new variant of concern – Omicron. Said measure would also buy time for the local health systems to cope to protect more lives.

In an interview, Tinglayan Municipal Administrator Noel Macaiba said that another objective of the order is to encourage yTinglayans to have themselves vaccinated, considering that Tinglayan has the lowest rate of vaccinated individuals among LGUs in Kalinga having recorded only 45 percent fully vaccinated individuals from its 70 percent target.

“…tapnu pangatuwen tayu man wennu at least kuma ngay ket adda kuma diay kunkuna tayu nga herd immunity ta as of now ngay ket adu pay lang iti haan a na-vaccine-an a constituents ti Tinglayan. So far ket nagbaba, Tinglayan sa ti kababaan,” Macaiba disclosed.

In accessing government services, yTinglayans who are unvaccinated will only be allowed entry to transact with offices if they could present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours.

Likewise, those unvaccinated government employees will be barred entry to their respective offices unless they can present negative result of RT-PCR test.

Macaiba asked the public not to complain with the imposed regulations but should understand that the order is for the common good of the yTinglayans, which is to protect them from getting the virus or at least give them immunity to survive COVID-19 in cases that they are inflicted with it.

“Sigun a iti explanation dagiti health experts ket vulnerable dagituy unvaccinated ket makita pay basar ti explanation dagiti health experts nga uray man nu natamaan da iti virus ket haan unay iti tama [symptoms] da or at least man lang ket han a severe dagituy cases,” Macaiba explained.

For visitors, they should present their vaccination cards at the designated tourist information center and municipal Philippine National Police checkpoint before allowing entry to the barangay they wish to visit.

The unvaccinated, partially jabbed and those which vaccination status cannot be validated, they are likewise required to present RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours same with the unvaccinated who wanted to transact in government offices.

With this directive, the Tinglayan local government is now asking for the cooperation of the public and all of those which will be affected by the executive order.
