Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga through Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, turned over 53 printers to DepEd-Kalinga Division to help ease the impact of the pandemic among teachers and learners.

The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected the teaching and learning process in the country forcing the Department of Education (DepEd) to shift to new teaching methods demanding the acquisition of more equipment especially in the production of learning materials.

The Kalinga Provincial Information Office reports that the local government with the desire to augment the needs of the agency took part of the Adopt-a-School Program of DepEd and allocated for the provision of printers from the Special Education Fund (SEF) of the provincial government.

Governor Tubban, during the turn-over, has expressed hope that the provision of printers help ease the burden of teachers in the production of their weekly modules and other learning materials, as the government continue to impose restrictions to protect the public from COVID 19.

He likewise advised the learners to do their part and strive harder to educate themselves; considering that classroom learning, which is the most convenient means of studying, is still prohibited.

In an interview, Kalinga Schools Division Superintendent Amador Garcia Sr. said they shall be giving the printers to selected schools within their jurisdiction who badly need printers for the production of self-learning modules (SLMs).

DepEd-Kalinga Division covers 193 schools, 161 elementary schools and 32 secondary schools.

Garcia added that other component programs aside from the provision of printers for the continued implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan to be conducted this year are training programs, provision of monitoring vehicles and motorcycles, human resources development and deployment of LGU-paid teachers.

“Dagitoy are all initiatives supporting the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan of SDO-Kalinga in light of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Garcia stated.
