LET Top 8 from Kalinga says ‘mind conditioning’ helped in topping the board

“Think, review, and answer like a topnotcher.”

This was the mind conditioning approach of Febie Gel Dagson, Top 8 in the September 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers – Elementary Level, when she was preparing for the board exam.

Dagson who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Kalinga State University told GURU Press Cordillera it was her goal to top the teachers board examination. With this in mind, she had to do what it really takes to become one.

“I submitted everything to God. God is a generous God as long as you do your part. Also, I formulated a goal to become a topnotcher, and thus acted like one,” she narrated.

Since July 7 until the exam on September 24, Dagson hit the books and burnt the midnight candle daily keeping in mind not to tolerate complacency.

Dagson inspired by her mother as her first teacher

Inspired by her mom’s patience and compassion in teaching, Dagson, 20 decided to enroll Bachelor in Elementary Education at KSU.

“She was my first teacher po. I was 4 years old when I was in Grade 1 and she showed me how to teach because I, myself, have learned from her. Additionally, majority of the girls in our family are in the teaching profession,” she relayed.

Dagson wanted to be like her mom, “having a teacher who is compassionate and patient is a blessing po in order for us to achieve our dreams. I want to be a teacher like her, a teacher who inspires!”

Dagson’s advice to next LET takers

To those who will be taking the LET next, the topnotcher has only three tips: pray to God and believe in yourself; set a goal then work for it; and take vitamins and have enough sleep because health is wealth.

Now that she got her license, Dagson, plans to teach in college and be a review lecturer.
