According to Gallema, they adapted a method released by an international Facebook page showing steps on how to create recycled face masks and face shields.

With the help of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the organization was able to produce and later distribute over 4,500 recycled face shields to the different municipalities in the province while 3,000 face masks to frontliners.

In addition, YFPPCYB initiated a community Pantry in the province, having been observed that the community is in dire need of food supplies like vegetables and instant foods.

Further, the group had been conducting tree planting and clean-up drive to reduce disasters such as soil erosion and flood. This, Gallema said, is to likewise to ‘save the environment.’

The activity was made possible with the seedlings that the group requested from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

These programs and activities resulted in the recognition of Gallema as Exemplary Youth Leader and Advocate of the Year during the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards 2021 held on June 26, 2021, at Okada Manila.

Call for youth

As a responsible and empowered youth, YFPPCYB President called for the youth not to be discouraged by the distractions, instead focus on their improvement so as to help others who are in need.
