Cagayan, Philippines – Two days after he was buried by the government at a public cemetery, the slain cadre in the Gonzaga encounter was unearthed to be reunited with his family one last time.

Gerald Lerio Paredog, also known as ‘Daloy’ and ‘Gani’, was laid to rest by the Gonzaga Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) at the cemetery in Barangay Pateng on February 27, four days after the encounter between the rebels and military at the same location.

Two days after his burial, Daloy's body was exhumed by the authorities due to a request from his family to bring him home and reunite him with his loved ones, even for the last time.

Daloy’s remains were then transported from Gonzaga to Tuguegarao City, where his siblings were waiting on Thursday, February 29.

The deceased’s relatives, through the 5th Infantry Division, expressed their gratitude to those who assisted in processing the necessary documents for Daloy’s body to be transported back home to Barangay Doña Imelda, Quezon City.

For their part, the MTF-ELCAC Gonzaga extended condolences to the family grieving the loss of their sibling in the 10-minute firefight between the Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley and the 502nd Infantry Brigade on February 23 in Sitio Latoc, Pateng.
