Tabuk City, Kalinga – The 503rd Infantry Brigade emphasized that the Philippine Army does not red tag individuals or organizations, stating that they uphold and respect the basic human rights of every person.

During the press conference held in observance of the 35th Commission on Human Rights anniversary on May 16, 2022, Colonel Christopher Sab-it, the Deputy Commander of the 503rd Infantry Brigade clarify that, while red tagging became a divisive issue, the Philippine army does not red tag anyone.

“Sa tingin ko naman yung red tagging is quite divisive issue na sa atin. I think it has brought out something na dapat hindi dapat pinag-uusapan. One thing I’m sure with the Philippine Army is we do not red tag organizations, kahit naman tignan siguro yung mga social pages ng mga Philippine Army units, wala naman pong nagre-red tag,” he said.

He added that however, they support organizations like the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict that aims to end insurgency in the country and the Anti-terrorism Council which pronounced the CPP-NPA-NDF and some underground mass organizations that try to overthrow the government as terrorist organizations.

“So, sa panig po ng Philippine Army, we do not red-tag any organizations, we do not threat any individuals, we respect and promote the basic human rights principles,” he clarified.

Sab-it also expressed the 503rd Infantry Brigade and the 5th Infantry Division uphold the basic human rights of the public.

“In behalf of the brigade and the 5th Infantry Division, we are one with the CHR in promoting the basic human rights principles. We also wanted to share that we uphold, we protect the basic right of every Filipino people,” he conveyed.
