Female engineer in Isabela is top 1 in Registered Master Electrician board exam

Isabela, Philippines – A female engineer in Ilagan, Isabela has proven topping a licensure examination does not require a specific gender after conquering a ‘male-dominated board exam’.

Engr. Mariclaire Baingan Larugal, an alumna of Isabela State University – Ilagan came out with the highest score among the 1,220 who took the Registered Master Electrician Licensure Exam (RMELE) on April 26.

Larugal secured the top spot in the list of the top 10 performing examinees with a 92.50% rating.

ISU – Ilagan Executive Officer, Dr. Alfonso Simon, in his interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, lauded their former student for this feat, adding they could not get any more pleased with her, especially since she topped a licensure exam whose takers are mostly men.

“She dominated a field that is predominantly male dominated po ang board exam na ito,” he emphasized.

Simon added that Larugal also did not graduate with Latin Honor, but her success in the board exam showed anyone can make it in the top 10.

The Executive Officer then congratulated all the passer in the RMELE saying, “kami po ay super proud po sa aming mga board passers and board topnotchers.”

Of the 1,220 who took the April 2024 RMELE, 629 passed.
