Baguio City, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera (CHED-CAR) is set to release this January their decision whether or not to give a go signal for the higher education institutions (HEIs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) which applied for the conduct of limited face-to-face classes this upcoming semester.

The HEIs and SUCs in the region, once approved, will be issued a certificate of authority from the said agency.

According to CHED-CAR Director Demetrio Anduyan, they already visited the institutions for the rollout of the phased limited face-to-face classes. They are only waiting for the self-assessment to be submitted by the institution that made their request for said education set up.

“Siguro nga kasalukuyan na nilang inaayos ang mga institutions nila sapagkat sinabi naman na natin sa kanila no, hindi lang through a memorandum kundi tayo mismo ang pumunta sa mga eskwelahan para ipagbigay-alam kung ano ang mga needed preparations,” Anduyan said through PTV Cordillera.

As recalled, the agency permitted 15 institutions in Cordillera for limited face-to-face classes in 2019, with a total of 27 courses related to health, agriculture, engineering, business, and tourism.

CHED-CAR Director stated that the schools which started conducting said set up will continue this year unless they fail in the evaluation.

The personnel of HEIs in the region have the highest number of personnel who are vaccinated against COVID-19. 95.24% or 7,940 of the total 8,337 personnel were already vaccinated while 75.65% or 84,436 of the 111, 617 students received their dose.

This is in preparation for the schools in the possible face-to-face classes.
