Benguet, Philippines – Highlighting outstanding operational performance, professionalism, and commitment to community-centered service, the Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO) and the Municipal Government of La Trinidad were conferred national honors during the Philippine National Police (PNP) Day 2026 celebrations at Camp BGen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City on January 29, 2026.

PNP Day celebrates the founding of the national police force and pays tribute to the dedication, courage, and service of its units, personnel, and community stakeholders nationwide. The national event also recognizes the critical role of local government partnerships in promoting peace and order.

During the event, Police Colonel Lambert A. Suerte received the accolade Nationwide Best PPO on behalf of the unit, while La Trinidad Mayor Hon. Roderick C. Awingan received the National Award for Best Local Government Unit (Municipal Level).

The awards were given in recognition of their consistent demonstration of excellence in law enforcement operations, community engagement, local government partnerships, and public safety initiatives.

Benguet PPO’s Prior Commendations

This latest honor adds to the Benguet PPO’s long history of local and national awards and commendations.

In 2022, the office was recognized as the Outstanding PPO in Police Community Relations for its initiatives in strengthening police-community partnerships. The following year, the unit earned the PNP Medalya ng Kasanayan (Efficiency Medal) during National Crime Prevention Week for implementing effective crime prevention practices.

Weeks prior to the 2026 PNP Day, the PPO was also commended by the Benguet Provincial Government for its participation in the Cordillera “Binnadang” donation drive, which assisted communities affected by Typhoon Tino.

Meanwhile, the two honors affirm not only the Benguet PPO and La Trinidad LGU’s holistic approach to security and development, but also the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region’s integrated strategy for peace and development, emphasizing strong policing, deepened public confidence, and active community partnership in the Cordillera.
